Training- MCA volunteers teach several schools a year, open to MCA members only. Basic Mountaineering School happens every winter and the Ice Climbing Festival is in the Fall. Often there are Rock Climbing classes, Crevasse Rescue Clinics and other classes of interest to mountaineers and outdoor enthusiasts
Trips - MCA volunteer trip leaders have trips for a variety of interests and skill levels.
MCA huts- 7 huts built and maintained by the MCA in the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains are free for members to use.
Scree- The monthly newsletter of the MCA containing trip reports and detailed descriptions of mountains routes. You also get access to the Scree archive, over 50 years of climbing history and trip reports available nowhere else!
Vin Hoeman Library - A collection of mountaineering literature that is an excellent source for researching climbs done in the state.
Discounts - 10% off climbing gear and boots at AMH with your MCA membership card. Other members-only discounts with outdoor and gear companies.
The MCA represents your interests in conservation and access to recreational land.
Cost: $20 a year for an individual or $30 a year for a family membership. A crazy bargain!
Membership effective date: All memberships expire on December 31st. If you signup or renew before November 1st, your membership will expire on December 31 of the current year. If you signup or renew on November 1st or later, your membership will expire on December 31 of the following year.
