Ice Climbing Festival.
Announcement - No 2026 Ice Fest
Our long-time chairperson, Jayme Mack Fuller, has announced that she's stepping down after 25 years of organizing the festival. We're grateful for all the time and effort she has put in!
The club's board is starting to discuss next steps. We hope to organize some outdoor events this winter and encourage you to check out the Valdez Ice Festival, but there will be no Matanuska Ice Fest in 2026. Please email board@mtnclubak.org if you'd like to get involved in the Ice Fest organizational team for 2027 and beyond.
The MCA Ice Festival is a two day instructional weekend. Instruction is catered to participants' abilities and curriculum includes instruction in modern ice climbing techniques, associated safety systems and familiarization of equipment.
Instructors are volunteers within the Mountaineering Club of Alaska. All participants, instructors and event volunteers camp out together off the glacier, to maximize instruction time and encourage socializing in the evening.
